Tackling Texture

First of all let’s address the fact that this skin we wear takes a beating. Our skin is a reflection of what we eat, what we drink (and how much we drink- if ya know what I mean) and how much water we consume and the level of care that we take towards it in most cases.

What I mean to say is I myself have accepted that my skin won’t look they way it did when I was in my teens or maybe my preteen, pre-puberty hitting hard era.

I try to be thankful for everything my skin does. It protects my delicate organs, It receives touch, it tells me whether or not I should put on a sweater or wear a t-shirt instead. This is vital information that is constantly interacting with my brain and nervous system for my highest good. So, above all gratitude.

Skin changes and there are methods to help facilitate the renewal of skin cells.

So first ask yourself what is your ideal skin and how to can I tip the scales toward my desired outcome?

Texture encompasses a few key factors. Texture can be acne, large and small. Texture includes scarring from past break outs, pot marks and indentions left long after the blemish has healed. Texture can be caused by lack of moisture. The skin may have a slight sand paper like feeling. Texture can also be natural to the skin type of an individual.

When Im addressing Texture, I take these steps to remedy it.

Acne small and large.

Get a facial. This can be a costlier solution but if you have acne and black heads leave it to the professionals to clear them. Texture or bumps that you feels directly under the skin can easily be cleared with a session of deep clearing out of clogged sebum under the skin. The tiny hardened bumps you feel under your skin could be black heads and chances are they are going away without a lil measured force.

Deep Soothing

This one is for sensitive skin folks like myself who have eczema or redness or get a flare of irritation here and there. I think its really important to observe what the skin is telling us. I’m not being woo woo our body is constantly sending messages to our brains try to observe patterns.

Inflammed skin can appear bumpy and patchy or even show up as hives.

Avoid the sun, wear sunscreen and or hats.

Try Caledula Oil. It’s so moisturizing and I love how calming it is.

Cool water and cold compress.

Simplify your skin care routine to the most basic products.

Confronting the Past (kinda)

Exfoliate, consistently and deeply.

I love a great physical exfoliant, an extra fine grit feels so cleansing & regenerating my absolute favorite is Dr. Goldfadden Rudy Crystals Microdermabrasion scrub. It’s top of the line and of absolutely love it. I discovered it during my time in the high hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. Trust me or the reviews, it’s gold.

Retin-A baby!

She is consistent she is tried and true she rises above and she shines. I’m dramatic and maybe I’m loopy from a long winded rant about skin but Retin-A is the homey. If you want to clear up acne scars, if you want occasional acne to stop, if you want that youthful glow that looks like you turned the clock back? It’s Retin-A. Here in the US we have our problems but at the top of the list is needing a prescription for the creamy gold. I’m kidding of course.

I get my whenever I leave the states. Latin American countries sell it at drug stores for like 8 bucks and that is the tea. If you haven’t been to Latin America what are you doing because it’s right there.

Until we’re free from the bonds that hold us there’s retinol creams.

There’s a few more intensive professional services that I will go into later. If you’ve got a wedding or major event where you’ll be serving face my next blog post is for you.
